On Saturday, August 30th, the TEXOMA SAILING CLUB will again host the TOMMY WUNDERLICK OVERNIGHT TOUR CLASSIC. Over the years this has become one of the most popular races hosted by TSC. The WUNDERLICK CLASSIC is named after Tommy Wunderlick, who was one of the founding members of the TEXOMA SAILING CLUB. He believed that TSC needed a distance race and decided to put one together with a distance of 50 miles, followed by breakfast and awards the following morning. After finishing this first race, he suffered a fatal heart attack on the gas dock. The event was renamed in memory of him.

In keeping with the true spirit of the origin of the race, the WUNDERLICK CLASSIC is still an overnight event, giving us inland sailors some feel of offshore racing, where navigation and the ability to stay focused usually pays big dividends. Of course, if you like to race casually, it has become a great social event; race as long as you want & turn-in.

The 2003 WUNDERLICK CLASSIC will be comprised of two courses: one for the spinnaker fleets approximately 50 miles long and one for the cruising fleets approximately 25 miles. All marks have GPS coordinates; many of you have a GPS, but if you don’t have one, the marks will be lighted. Course maps and the GPS data will be posted at the clubhouse and the GPS data is also on the racing page on our website, http://www.texomasailing.org. Applications for the race will be on that page also.

Check-in will begin at 2:00 p.m. on August 30 @ the TSC Clubhouse, followed by the Skippers' Meeting at 3:00 p.m. Attendance at the SKIPPERS' MEETING IS REQUIRED by all Skippers. Afterwards, we will have a BBQ dinner complete with everything. Everyone is invited to attend the pre-race dinner and the awards breakfast, whether you’re racing or not. We do ask that you RSVP as instructed below by Monday, August 25th so we’re sure to have right amount of food for everyone, and please pre-register, even if you're planning on racing and not eating. Remember, if you don't make a dinner reservation by the deadline, we won't sell you a dinner ticket when you check-in to pick up your sailing instructions. Following dinner, the WUNDERLICK CLASSIC first gun will be at 6:25 p.m.

After a good night’s sleep, join us at the clubhouse at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning for BLOODY MARYS, MIMOSAS and lots of “unbelievable” seafaring stories from the night before. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 with the awards ceremony following at approximately 9:00 a.m.

The cost for all this fun? Race Entry Fee $30.00 (US Sailing - $25.00)
Dinner & Breakfast $10.00 per person
($7.50 for BBQ dinner or $5.00 for breakfast separately)
RSVP REQUIRED FOR DINNER AND OR BREAKFAST BY MONDAY, AUGUST 25th

This is always a great event and we hope that you’ll join us again this year. It’s lots of fun for racers and cruisers alike, so everyone fill out your application and get it to us as soon as possible. Please, please, please pre-register for both the racing and the dinner.
